Whether she likes it or not - more likely not! - Tekla finds herself living under the same roof as her future mother-in-law, who was recently widowed just before her financially disadvantageous divorce. In a moment of mental blackout, Tekla performs a hastily concocted ritual, which, to everyone's surprise, results in the death of the husband of one of the participants the next day.
Unaware of her newfound reputation as a bringer of misfortune and unwitting goddess of justice, Tekla reluctantly agrees, under the pressure of her mother and mother-in-law, to meet with a club of unhappily married women seeking her supernatural aid. Soon, the story of Tekla's supposed powers spreads like wildfire, and desperate wives flock to her, hoping for relief from their troubled marriages.
However, when subsequent rituals seem unexpectedly effective and lead to more deaths, Tekla begins to suspect foul play. If she didn't kill these men, who did? Could it be... her mother-in-law?
