The beginning of December 2020 was a particularly successful year for the Criminal Investigation Department of the City Police Headquarters. Deputy Commissioner Adrian Perg and his partners - the untamed cadet Iwan Brzostek and analyst Senior Sergeant Natalia Merc - solved the mysterious murders of homeless men. It seemed the city's crime quota had been reached by the end of the year.
Nothing could be further from the truth. Especially when Perg finds a note with a graphic nursery rhyme behind his car window. A silly joke by local youth? It quickly becomes clear that it wasn't, as the same message was carved on the body of the murdered boy, and the mutilations and manner of death send shivers down everyone's spines.
