The residents of Victoria Crescent have been slowly rebuilding their lives since the end of the Great War. For Tilly Moran, this means living under the watchful eye of her elder sister, Alice, until she comes of age. Unable to bear the restrictions placed upon her any longer, Tilly flees to Liverpool for a fresh start. There, Tilly enters a new line of work where she meets many interesting people, and she is charmed by Leonard Parker, a shipping entrepreneur. But when Tilly discovers that some of her new associates aren't what they seem, can her dreams of love and independence still come true, or will her luck run out?
