Following on from Mike's first book of childhood memories and early life, Further adventures of war baby begins in 1962 when he takes a job as a lecturer in a college of further education, followed by romance in a small cathedral city. Everything seems rosy, but following the acrimonious break up of his marriage, he becomes a single parent and has to overcome prejudices which existed at this time against families led by lone fathers. He describes the challenges of caring for his two boys while holding down a demanding job. Mike later meets and marries a lovely Danish girl and recalls the birth of their new baby daughter and the emotional complexities of reconstructing an extended family of four lively teenage children. He shares the emotional highs and lows that took place as members of the family learned to love one another, and describes exciting family camping trips to France, Cornwall, Wales and Denmark, and the building of a large pottery studio where he and Lisbeth develop their joint love of ceramics.
